Dear Ms. Valiani,
As a long time reader of your magazine I am always looking for your get away
feature. My
husband and I have been to many of these places after reading your articles.
We have really enjoyed the places we have visited.
In late October we went to the Arthur, IL area. We were hoping to see the
fall colors and visit the Amish community. In our search for a place to stay
we found this fantastic bed and breakfast, “Simple Pleasures” located in
Tuscola, IL. What caught my attention to Simple Pleasures was the Jacuzzi in
the back yard conservatory.
Our host and hostess, Bob and Berniece Newkirk could not have been more
accommodating.
After a tour of their beautiful wooded property and their home Bob carried
our luggage to our room. Berniece jokingly calls him Butler Bob.
Our room was fabulous. It was decorated in an Ivy theme. The room was made
welcoming by
having fresh fudge and candy creams on a sterling silver candy dish. Next to
the bed was a candy
bowl with wrapped chocolate. The Newkirk’s provide a robe and slippers to go
to the Jacuzzi. In the family room was a guest refrigerator filled with pop,
water, beer and wine all included in the price of the stay. An evening snack
is provided if you would like it. In the morning outside door was a pot of
coffee, pot of hot water for tea or hot chocolate and some warm homemade
pumpkin nut bread. I cannot say enough about the breakfast that was served
at 8:30 a.m. A fresh fruit cup started the meal. It progressed to eggs,
sausage, cheese potatoes and homemade bread. After breakfast we had a
wonderful dessert.
Bob and Berniece are a wonderful couple who really enjoy sharing their home
with guests. We cannot wait to go back, and thought your readers might find,
as we did a most relaxing get away tucked in central Illinois. I have
included their brochure and business card for your convenience. I really
hope to see them featured in your magazine.
Sincerely,
Cathy Sibenaller
